A new guest house in Spain: Finca Johanna

January 30, 2016

Johanna and Laurent have sent this information:

DSC_0003In Andalusia the summer is here most of the year, and Johanna and Laurent, a French couple, have opened their guest house Finca Johanna here.

We are far away from the tourist bustle and beaches lined with buildings of the Costa del Sol. Nestled in the Andalusian countryside, the Finca Johanna is 25 minutes drive from Marbella, and Malaga is about the same distance.

The finca has five rooms which are beautifully decorated. Each room has its own theme. The Gypsy room, where you can sleep in an alcove, The Moorish room, which looks like an Andalusian patio, the Seventies room for the hippies, the room of the Marvels, which is an invitation to travel, and the most romantic one: The Arabian Nights room.

IMG_2796For those who prefer the camping option, Johanna and Laurent are working to add two outside places to stay: a Bedouin tent and a vintage caravan with its Canadian tent. They will be amongst the almond trees and the old English Land Rover that stands alone. Maybe you can accompany it, in its imaginary journeys…

This real farm where almonds and olives are grown is a paradise for naturist people, who appreciate the quiet environment of nature and the return to basic roots. Fresh farm eggs are served with breakfast, a well stocked buffet with the dates, grapes, loquats and persimmons from the finca, depending on the season. Without forgetting the local cheeses and ham, as well as croissants and brioches. These are homemade by Johanna. because even if we’re in Spain, the traditional French breakfast can not dispense with delicious pastries.

IMG_2808At the heart of the Finca, there is a swimming pool and hot tub, for you to take full advantage of the sun.

The bar is where Laurent officiates and is attentive to the welfare of everyone. We have a petanque court for boules and other games such as sjoelbak (Dutch shuffleboard). We also have art materials which will allow you to have fun according to your taste.

In case you get a little hungry, tapas can be served throughout the day, using some of the natural ingredients from our garden. During the evenings, we have a barbecue under the stars, and if guests want to make music, there will probably be one or two musicians to accompany them. Johanna with her guitar will not be outdone.

DSC_0019For a double room: from 35 to 75 euros in low season, from 45 to 90 in high season. To come from the airport, you can travel by taxi (50 euros and 40 for return) or we can come with our car for 20 euros. To rent a car is very easy and cheap and can be a good option for touring the area.
